Canada Health Assistant

Independent guidance for provincial health-card applications. Understand your plan, prepare your details and find the right official next step.

Private service notice

My Applications Canada is a private guidance service, not a provincial health authority or government agency. We do not issue health cards, provide insurance or guarantee eligibility or approval. The official health-card application is free. You remain responsible for submitting your application to the relevant authority.

Private assistance fee: CAD 49.95 per application. This is not a government fee; applying directly with your province is free.

Public health coverage in Canada

Canada does not have a single national health-card application. Each province and territory manages its own public plan. Your residency, immigration status and supporting documents determine the process that applies to you.

Eligibility depends on where you live

Citizens, permanent residents and some temporary residents may qualify. Residency requirements, permit rules and coverage start dates vary. Check the current rules with the relevant provincial authority before applying.

Prepare your supporting documents

You will usually need proof of identity, legal status in Canada and residence in your province. Requirements differ by plan and application type; use the official checklist for your selected province.

Choose your province and application

For provinces or territories not listed, use the official health-plan directory. Find your provincial health plan

Health coverage questions

Is this an official health-card application?

No. This is private preparation guidance. Your province decides eligibility and issues your card. You must follow its official submission instructions.

Is a SIN the same as a health card?

No. A SIN is used for employment and certain federal programs. Health coverage is administered separately by provincial or territorial health plans.

Does completing this form start my coverage?

No. Coverage begins only when the relevant authority approves your enrolment under its rules. Completing this preparation form does not create coverage.

Can I apply directly without this service?

Yes. Official health-card applications are free. Independent assistance is optional; the private service fee is not a fee charged by the government.
